Cancún has one of the densest US route maps of any international airport: American, Delta, United, JetBlue, Alaska, Southwest and the Mexican carriers together put well over a hundred daily flights in from across the country. Getting there is trivially easy. Getting there in a flat bed is the interesting problem — most of that capacity is narrow-body leisure flying, where the premium cabin is a recliner, not a suite.
That mismatch is the whole story of buying Cancún well. Business class here usually means a domestic first or premium cabin on a two-to-four-hour flight, and its price behaves like the resort market it serves: relatively soft midweek in the shoulder months, brutal during spring break, Christmas, New Year and the Easter weeks, when both hotels and front cabins sell out together.
Practical guidance we give often: from the West Coast and the north, the connection over Dallas, Houston or Mexico City sometimes buys a materially better cabin than the direct. And for travellers heading to Tulum or the Riviera Maya, the newer Tulum airport now carries real service and can save an hour-plus of highway — worth pricing alongside Cancún rather than assuming.

Is there a real flat bed to Cancún?
Rarely — most service is narrow-body, where business class means a domestic first-class recliner. On a three-hour flight that is usually the sensible product anyway. Where a wide-body operates on peak days, we flag it, but we will not claim a lie-flat that is not there.
When is Cancún most expensive in a premium cabin?
Spring break, Christmas and New Year, and Easter week. Those compress a heavily leisure market where the front cabin is a handful of seats per flight. Late April to early June and September to early November are the reliable value months.
Should I fly to Tulum instead?
For the southern Riviera Maya, often yes — the newer airport now has meaningful US service and saves a long highway transfer from Cancún. We price both when your destination sits south of Playa del Carmen and let the ground time decide.
