Casablanca is Morocco’s commercial capital and one of only two North African cities with US nonstop service, alongside Cairo: Royal Air Maroc flies from New York, Washington, Miami and Boston, having joined oneworld and rebuilt its long-haul fleet around the 787. The demand underneath is business — finance, industry, the offshoring sector — with a tourism overlay that mostly transits toward Marrakech and the south.
The pricing story is a carrier building share on a route it does not dominate. Royal Air Maroc prices its business cabin to win traffic against the European constructions — Air France over Paris, Iberia over Madrid, Lufthansa over Frankfurt, Turkish over Istanbul — all of which reach Casablanca in a short hop. That competition keeps the negotiated channel open, and the spread between the best and worst construction is often substantial.
For most travellers Casablanca is a gateway rather than a destination: Marrakech is two and a half hours by comfortable train, Rabat is under an hour, and Fes and the desert routes start here. Those onward legs are ground travel rather than ticketed sectors, so we time arrivals to catch a same-day train south when that is where the trip is really headed.

Casablanca: common questions
Should I fly Royal Air Maroc or connect over Europe?
Price both. The nonstop saves hours and the 787 cabin is a proper flat bed; the European constructions over Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt or Istanbul sometimes undercut it and offer more frequencies if plans change. The gap moves week to week.
Is Casablanca the right airport for Marrakech?
Often, yes — the train south is comfortable and takes about two and a half hours, and Casablanca’s fares and schedule are usually better than Marrakech’s own thinner long-haul service. For a trip focused solely on Marrakech, we price both and compare door to door.
When is Morocco cheapest in business class?
The summer, when inland heat suppresses tourism, and midwinter outside the holidays. The temperate shoulders — spring and autumn — are the peak travel seasons and price accordingly, especially around Easter and the European holiday weeks.
