Turkish Airlines serves more countries than any carrier in history, and that network is the product: from its Istanbul mega-hub, one negotiated business fare from the US reaches secondary cities across Central Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe that would otherwise take three tickets. For much of that map, Turkish is not an option among several — it is the premium option.
The onboard proposition is led by catering that airline caterers elsewhere study: the flying chefs, the candle-lit (electrically) table settings, meze courses that treat a Boston–Istanbul overnight as a restaurant booking. Seats are modern lie-flats on the A350s and 787s, with the new Crystal cabin arriving progressively.

Anywhere the alternative is two tickets: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East and West Africa, secondary Middle East. One negotiated fare over Istanbul, one alliance, one baggage rule — and pricing the point-to-point carriers rarely touch.
How good is the business seat compared with the joint-venture carriers?

Is an Istanbul stopover worth building into the ticket?
