Polaris is United’s long-haul standard: 1-2-1 pods with direct aisle access, Saks Fifth Avenue bedding that regulars genuinely rate, and dedicated Polaris lounges at the US hubs with restaurant-style pre-flight dining. It flies the largest long-haul network of any US carrier — trans-Atlantic, trans-Pacific and deep into South America.
For the negotiated buyer, United matters for two reasons. First, its joint ventures (Lufthansa Group across the Atlantic, ANA across the Pacific) mean United metal prices on the same contract ladders as its partners — whichever operates your flight. Second, United serves US cities the foreign flags never will, so a negotiated itinerary from Denver, Cleveland or Austin often begins on United by necessity and prices as one ticket.
The honest product note: Polaris is consistent rather than spectacular — no doors yet (the announced refresh adds them), but no bad seats either. On price-per-flat-bed across a broad network, it earns its place on most quotes we build.

Does United discount Polaris through contract channels?
Yes — both directly and through the joint-venture ladders it shares with Lufthansa Group and ANA. On JV routes the operating carrier often matters less to the price than the contract does; we quote the corridor, then pick the metal.
How does Polaris compare with the foreign-flag cabins on the same routes?
Mid-pack on hard product (until the doored refresh lands), strong on lounges and schedule. When ANA’s The Room or Allegris flies the same corridor at similar negotiated pricing, we say so — and when Polaris is cheaper by four figures, that usually decides it.
Can smaller US cities get negotiated business fares via United?
That is United’s quiet advantage: the domestic feed. A negotiated long-haul fare from interior US cities constructs over the hubs as a single ticket, with the domestic leg in first where available. The alternative — positioning separately to a gateway — is nearly always worse.
