Houston to Frankfurt exists because oil and gas run on it. Lufthansa and United share the corridor inside their joint venture, the passenger manifest reads like an energy-services directory, and the demand books late, changes often and expenses the fare. Airlines price the public buckets accordingly.
Contract pricing restores the balance. Published business fares of $5,500 to $7,000 come back at $2,800 to $4,000 through the Lufthansa Group ladder, and the corridor’s corporate character keeps those bands stable in months when leisure routes whipsaw.
The eastbound runs about nine hours forty, a full night by any standard. Frankfurt then does what Frankfurt does: the arrival bank connects to Aberdeen, Stavanger, Baku or Dubai within a couple of hours, and through-fares on one ticket price those continuations generously.

Distance is great-circle between IAH and FRA; time in the air is estimated for that direct line. It is a band, not a schedule: eastbound and westbound differ with the jet stream, a connection adds its own hours, and the timetable for your date is what we quote.
Houston to Frankfurt: common questions
How late can Houston travellers book this route sensibly?
Very late. The allocations are built for energy-sector booking behaviour, so requests inside a week usually land near the standard negotiated band. The airline site at the same moment will be quoting close to full flexible fare, which is exactly the trap this corridor sets.
Lufthansa or United metal out of IAH?
Same ladder, different cabins. Lufthansa brings its newest products progressively as the fleet refreshes; Polaris is consistent and often a touch sharper on price from United’s own hub. We name the aircraft and cabin generation on every option.
Does Frankfurt beat a London connection for onward energy destinations?
Usually. The onward map to the North Sea, the Caspian and the Gulf is broader over Frankfurt, connections are shorter, and the through-fare construction on one group ticket is cleaner than mixing alliances over Heathrow.
