Connecting bank

The waves in which hub airlines schedule flights — dozens of arrivals bunched together, a transfer window, then dozens of departures — repeating several times daily. Banks are why hub connections can be improbably short and why missing one hurts: the next bank may be four hours out. Reading a hub’s bank structure tells you which connection times are genuine and which merely legal, and whether a misconnection recovers in an hour or an evening.
