Stopover

A deliberate pause of more than 24 hours at a connecting city, built into the fare rather than bolted on. Several hub carriers price stopovers at zero or a small flat fee as a matter of policy — a free day in the hub city on the way through. On negotiated fares, stopover permissions come from the fare rules, and using one converts a tiring connection into an extra destination. Always worth asking about; rarely surfaced by a booking engine.
