Nonstops beyond roughly 14 hours — the New York-Singapore, Dallas-Melbourne, JFK-Auckland class of flying, enabled by the A350ULR and 787-9. Cabin quality compounds with duration: on a 17-hour sector the difference between a suite and an ordinary flat bed is measured in how you feel for the following two days. Ultra-long-haul is also where premium economy arguments collapse; nobody recommends 17 hours in a recliner twice. If any flight deserves the negotiated business fare, it is this class.
