Brazil is long-haul without the jet lag: nine to ten hours south from the US East Coast, one or two time zones of shift, and an overnight-flight pattern that turns the business cabin into a bed you actually use. São Paulo’s Guarulhos is the gravitational centre — LATAM’s fortress plus United, American and Delta from a spread of US gateways — with Rio’s nonstops as the thinner, more seasonal second door.
LATAM’s ladder prices the country: negotiated space on the Guarulhos trunk runs deep year-round, and through-fares carry the domestic network — Rio via the air bridge, Brasília, Salvador, the Amazon gateways — at small increments on one protected ticket. When Rio’s own nonstops are constrained or event-priced, the São Paulo construction is the reliable answer.
The calendar has two detonations and a long calm: New Year and Carnival sell every premium seat into Rio months ahead at fares that ignore the usual gravity; outside them, Brazil prices moderately with a soft southern winter. Corporate São Paulo barely notices any of it — its demand is weekday-shaped, all year.

Should I fly into São Paulo even if my trip is Rio?
When Rio quotes badly, yes — Guarulhos has triple the frequency, deeper contract space, and the hourly air bridge finishes the journey in fifty minutes. Around Carnival and New Year it is often the only sensible construction left. We quote both doors by default.
How does the overnight pattern change the value of business class?
It maximises it: virtually every southbound departure is a red-eye across friendly time zones, so a flat bed converts directly into a working first day — no jet-lag tax to amortise. This corridor and Chile are where the cabin pays for itself most visibly.
Can one fare cover São Paulo, Rio and the Amazon or Northeast?
Yes — LATAM through-fares and open-jaws price multi-city Brazil cleanly: into São Paulo, out of Rio, with Salvador, Manaus or Iguazu as ticketed domestic legs in between. Building it as one itinerary at quote time is markedly cheaper than assembling pieces later.
